October 26, 2009

Personal computers are great add-ons to any home offices as these office equipments help speed up the work and many office tasks. Computer experts often list many causes of slow computer. The traditional causes of the slowing down of the computer include files that are disorganized on the computer, often unwanted and those un-important programs and software within the computer causes problems on the computer as well. If you think that unused network drives do no harm to your personal computer, well think again. These things make your computer suffer. Well these programs may not obviously slow down your personal computer but these programs can steal some memory from your personal computer.

Four Jobs You Could Get With An Information Technology Degree

October 25, 2009

Many wonder what exactly does someone with an information technology degree do in the real world. Despite the fact that many of us regularly work with information technology specialists, a significant number of people don’t really know what this job is all about. They just know that they need to call the IT guy when something goes wrong with the computer. But having a degree in information technology provides you with more skills than just being the computer fixer-upper. With this degree, you could work in areas of the computer business as diverse as technology engineering, database specialization and consulting. Alternatively, you could opt to stick with the traditional IT job of maintaining and repairing computer systems for businesses of all sizes.

One of the most common jobs for someone with an information technology degree to get is an engineering job. There are engineers for both software and hardware, allowing people with interests in different aspects of computers to find their niche. Engineers assist in the development and design of software applications or hardware systems. This is a highly creative position, which lets people explore innovative technologies while making use of their specialized computer knowledge. One of the greatest rewards for engineers is to see something they’ve created gain widespread use among average computer users. To hear people talking about how great your new software program works is an ego boost to any engineer. The best of them will not be satisfied with this alone, though; they’ll continue to push the boundaries of their work to create better systems.

How to Increase Your Laptop & Notebook Battery Power

October 25, 2009

The actual life of a laptop battery will vary with computer usage habits. In a survey by chipmaker Intel, 57% of laptop users said they wished their batteries lasted longer

Depending upon the model, a notebook battery usually lasts from 1 to 8 hours. However, with efficient battery usage, an hour or two of battery power can significantly be increased. You can save battery power by using the built-in battery saving modes and by following good notebook battery-saving practices.

Built-in battery-saving modes are Stand By and Hibernate. In the Stand By mode, open applications are stored in the RAM, the hard disks power down, the monitor switches off, but the processor goes on running. When you again perform some activity of the mouse or the keyboard, then the hard disk powers up, the monitor switches on, and the data from the RAM is activated, restoring your notebook exactly the way you left it.

Here are some tips to extend the life of your laptop battery:

1. Power down the display

Lowering the brightness may give you as much as an extra hour of runtime. And to increase even more the lifetime of your battery lower the screen resolution and color depth. This will decrease the workload on the GPU, thus extending the battery runtime.

To change this settings follow the steps below:

Does Technology Play a Vital Role in Wholesale Trading?

October 24, 2009

Technology is one of the cornerstones of commerce in any form in the current scenario. Every transaction has some sort of technological advancement enabling it, from the simplest process of buying orange juice from Wal-Mart to running a completely virtual online business. Wholesale trading is no exception. Logistics these days are completely dependent on technology, and the smallest business will find that access to technology is essential.

The Internet is also a big part of the revolution. In fact, many would say it’s a revolution in itself. Access to Internet technology has enhanced our lives in many ways – things that would take ages before are done with the click of a button. The Internet has enabled many small businesses to start up and compete in a global market place, something that was inconceivable earlier. Many of these businesses, particularly online ones, look to the Internet to provide them with the ability to engage in wholesale trading. The trend of drop shipping, especially via eBay, has created a niche for small traders to operate and make profits.

What the Internet technology has done is create a point of contact for the buyer and the seller – the online business and its customer, allowing the business to start up and operate without high costs. This has resulted in a number of entrepreneurs looking around them for products to sell that can be cheaply procured, sold at a higher price and shipped directly from the wholesale trader to the buyer. This has in turn increased the market size for the wholesaler, as well. Further, orders can be tracked and information exchanged through Internet or VoIP, so that it does not even matter where the seller, buyer or wholesaler is located in many cases. Communication is instant, easy and not bound by time difference.
